In a time of real world and multi-faceted problems, which require integrated solutions, DPGU actively advocates interdisciplinary learning. We challenge students to go beyond the usual academic boundaries, explore different views, and gain the ability to integrate knowledge across the boundaries. Such pedagogy equips them to learn, be innovative and take the lead in a fast-changing global environment.

The whole person development of students is also very critical in our philosophy. We recognize the fact that academic success is closely connected to emotional stability and mental health. At DPGU, a positive and welcoming campus atmosphere is actively fostered and arranged in the principles of mental health, balance, and personal development, where students can feel safe, inspired, and empowered along their learning path.

Dr. Mohan B. Waman is a distinguished academic leader, botanist, and biodiversity expert with more than three decades of experience in higher education, research, and institutional development. He currently serves as Vice-Chancellor of Dnyaan Prasad Global University. A Ph.D. in Botanyfrom Savitribai Phule Pune University, Dr. Waman has made pioneering contributions to angiosperm taxonomy, ethnobotany, conservation of rare, endemic and threatened plant species, and Expert for the Biodiversity Assessment Project of Kalsubai–Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary. His extensive academic career includes long-standing service as Principal of Dr. D. Y. Patil ACS College, Akurdi, and Head of the Department of Botany at SMBST College, Sangamner. He has served on key statutory bodies of Savitribai Phule Pune University, including the Academic Council, Board of Studies, NSS Advisory Board, Avishkar Committee, BCUD, and NAAC teams, and has been widely recognized for his leadership in research promotion, innovation initiatives, student development, and community-oriented biodiversity conservation projects.

Dr. Waman has authored multiple books, completed several government-funded research projects, and published more than 35 research papers in reputed national and international journals. He has presented his work globally, including the XVIII International Botanical Congress in Melbourne, Australia. His awards include the Best Principal Award from SPPU (2020–21), the Best Innovative Teacher Award, the Karmaveer Award, and an Honorary Doctorate (D.Litt.) Award from the Dr. Radhakrishnan Teacher’s Welfare Association. He has also played a pivotal role as advisor and coordinator for numerous state and national-level camps, capacity-building programs, and environmental initiatives in collaboration with forest departments, NGOs, and academic bodies. As a recognized Ph.D. guide, he has mentored several research scholars and continues to contribute significantly to the fields of plant taxonomy, ethnomedicine, biodiversity conservation, environmental impact assessment, and sustainable development. With a career marked by academic excellence, institutional leadership, and deep commitment to community engagement, Dr. Mohan Baban Waman stands as a respected scholar-administrator dedicated to advancing quality education, research culture, and environmental stewardship.
